Some photos from Cambodia

I haven't forgotten about you or about crime fiction; I've just been busy shooting. All photos by your humble blogkeeper.

I particularly like that last one, Peter.

The last one was memorable, My guide and I were driving back to town, and the guide rolled his window down so I could take the picture. I pointed to the camera, the barber nodded, and I gave a sampeah of thanks. The barber interrupted his work to return a sampeah of his own. The customer wonders what the hell is happening, he look up, sees me, smiles, gives me a sampeah, and I take the picture. I don't know if I've ever been anywhere where the people are warm, as welcoming, and as friendly.

I like the last one too. Its got a Nat Geo 1970s flavour about it...

I mean that as a compliment. The greatest era of colour photography for that magazine as any visit to a good but slightly old fashioned doctors office will show.

Peter, it's nice that there's a story to it, which I'm sure you will remember for a long time.

And that's what counts. isn't it, something with which I can console myself when I post my postcard-like photos of sunset at Angkor Wat, and my temple photos, the black and white of which are terribly derivative of nineteenth-century photography, and the color ones of which would have been worth looking at before Cezanne did his paintings of the Bibemus quarry or of Mont St. Victoire in the 1890s.
